2100, Oct 1st 2003; Hyperion Mess Hall
Chris Chris still had not gotten the chance to track down Kool-Aid yet and had given up hope of seeing his reaction for the day. Oh well there was always tomorrow after all right? He would get to see the priceless reaction at some point, that was the part that really mattered. He had to make sure this new squad with the want to be hot shot leader knew it's place as second in line at best. Shadow Hawks had dominated the Hyperion since day one as the most impressive force the ship had and Chris had no intentions of letting that change.
After the fight earlier with the marine and his pilot Chris had gone back to the quarters and enjoyed his last day of freedom before they were to return to duty tomorrow. A few drinks in of his favorite Aeriloian Whiskey and Scorpian Tequila. After that and enjoying a little alone time he made his way down the hall, just wondering at first till he decided he was hungry and was going to go grab a bite to eat.
He had a lot on his mind. They were destine to head out to the war games then off to the Line for five months to follow. unfortuantly they would be returning to the Aerilon shipyard again. Maybe he would man up and head down to the surface this time. As he sat there eating it was all over his face. There was something eating at him, and it was hitting hard.

Samantha had gone to the gym before the fight broke out and had been in the shower when it was taking place. Walking into the showers in her standard issue shower slippers with her towel wrapped around her she found it peculiar that the stalls were completely empty. It was a fresh change from the normal sweaty bodies on either side. To say she didn’t particularly mind showering with a man would be an understatement, there was something very sensual about water, but standing beside her rather than doing less than chaste things to her was not what she had in mind when she thought of showering with a man.
Sam let the water run over her and washed the soapy shampoo from her blonde hair, which was relatively long when it wasn’t dry and sprung up into curls just brushing past her collarbone. The foam flowed onto the floor and toward the drain in the center of the stall. She watched it disappear through the grate. The steamy water felt refreshing after a long hard run and work out. Samantha loved running. Actually she rather disliked it but she loved the thrill and burst of adrenaline it gave her. She ran around the Battlestar regularly. It took a lot of force to push a viper pedal. Out of necessity Samantha worked out in the gym often, usually early in the morning or whenever she could spare time from her duties and sleep. She tried to go at times when others weren’t normally there which usually meant the crack of dawn, before even the worms were awake, or late at night when she was probably supposed to be asleep.
After drying off and dressing in her grey undershirt with a green over shirt and green casual pants she realized she was starving. This late onset of extreme hungry always set it after a workout. Sometimes it took a while for Sam. She towel dried her hair again before tying it up into a bun.
Leaving her quarters as a throng of people entered she glanced back curiously. They were all prattling on about some ‘fight.’ Her interest peeked but her stomach growled in protest. She would no doubt hear about what happened later. She made her way to the mess hall and grabbed a tray filling it with fresh salad and fruit, anything fresh she could get her hands on while they were still docked.
Turning around her hazel eyes spotted Chris seated at one of the empty tables. She smirked. Her playful smile remained when she slid into the seat across from him. “You’ve got something right there Captain,” she motioned to the corner of her own mouth with a teasing expression. “So Captain what’s going on with the Shadowhawks, anything new to report?” she asked as she took a bite of her apple. Her teeth cut into the juicy flesh of the fruit the flavors of tartness and sweetness in equal measure erupted in her mouth. There was something so rewarding about a crisp apple.

Chris panned up in a jolt when he heard the voice of his squad mate talking to him. Smantha was another one of the boys and one he had grown to trust over her time here with the squad. That said there were thinks that were his secrets to keep. His hand casually, but swiftly came down on the table over a folded peaice of paper along with a small group of wallet sized picture.
Chris' other hand went to his face at the same time to remove the peice of food from his face. "Ha, thanks Nova. No not much of anything to report." The war games were coming up soon and they would have to keep themselves ready for what was to come in the next few days. "Word on the street is that We head out here soon for the war games and this one is going to be a whole new beast from the prior one.
Chris slide down the bench seat for Samantha to take a seat wit him. "Have an interesting time on leave?" He gave her a wink to suggest he knew she had found herself a little fun while she was gone. Everyone surely went out and found themselves a little 'attention' while they were gone. Chris had managed to do so with only going to the ship yard even. Nothing to write home about but hey it kept him entertained while they were here.
Chris patted the seat for her to join him as he continued to finish his meal. Gettin kind of late for you youngsters to be up still isn't it?" Chris joked with her as he retracted the paper and pictures and put them in his brest pocket. he wasn't decreet about it as that would only draw more attention to it and he didn't want her to grill him on it. "Ever thought you wouldn't ever go do something then after a long time wondered if you should have gone and done it a long time ago?"

Sam noticed his hand casually move to rest over a set of pictures and a folded up piece of paper. From her vantage point she couldn’t see what was written on it, nor could she make out any of the faces on the photographs. She dismissed it as nothing. It was his business after all, if he wanted her to know he would have shared. Her attention turned back to him as she took another bite of her apple.
She gave him a slight shrug and cocked her head to one side, “You’re welcome,” she replied that smirky smile still playing on her lips. “Good, I’ve been waiting for a beast,” she added not missing a beat as she nonchalantly stabbed at her salad. “Oh, of course, you know I always have a good time,” she smiled shifting her eyes only, her chin still tucked towards her chest, her fork remained piercing a few leaves of spinach and a slice of tomato as she gazed up at him from beneath her eyelashes while she said it. Returning to a more casual composure she leaned back in her chair and chewed thoughtfully, “Let’s see,” she said after she finished chewing. “Well I saw a lot of what Aerilon had to offer, toured the towns that sort of thing….might have started a bar fight or two,” she laughed.
When he patted the seat beside him she rose from her spot, slid her tray to the other side of the table and walked around the end of it to sit next to him. His taking the pictures and piece of paper off the table did not go unnoticed by her. She wasn’t going to press him on it. When and if he was ready to tell her about it he would. She wondered if the folded up piece of paper was some sort of love letter. She almost visibly snorted at the idea and stuffed her mouth with another bite to mask her amusement.
At his youngster remark she found herself laughing again, “Are you sure it isn’t past your bed time old man?” she countered. Digging into the small bowl of soup she had been given then she found herself slightly distracted by the rich brothy taste when he seemed to be rather indirectly asking her a serious question, “Hmm,” she glanced over at him again. Then the question sank in, “All the time,” she smiled almost jokingly then realizing it wasn’t a joking matter she sobered somewhat, “Yeah, sure, hasn’t everybody? If it’s the right thing to do I don’t think it matters how long it takes you to do it. A person can only ever do something when they’re ready for it,” she told him earnestly with a casual shrug of her shoulders before scooping up another spoonful of broth and carrots.

Chris laughed along with her as they joked around about the light things. It was good to have light conversation, of course that is what they always had and Chris needed it right now especially with his next question.
When he spoke and she returned to the tone of the conversation turned somber, serious. Chris wasn't really sure what to say in return. "Yeah, I never thought I would go back stay in the military as long as I have and I wonder if I should keep going or call it quites one of these days." It was a dodge from what he was really thinking about but that is what Chris did, he doeged the truth at every turn. "You know, at what point is it time to hang up the uniform. I guess it is different for us all and I really don't see myself doing it any time soon."
Yeah he was in full blown bullshit mode now. Anything to keep her from digging deeper in to it. he tapped his hand on his pocket and went back to eating. He was always full of junk to spew out of his mouth all day but never really was much for deep conversation. He reached over and punched her in the arm. No different then he would have in the quarters. "So give me the details what was it like back on Aerilon, I hear them Aerilonian men are quiet impressive."

Samantha nudged him in the upper arm with her fist playfully. “Yeah, sure Chris, you retire from the military,” she laughed out loud at the idea. “What would we do without you?” she feigned dramatically gesturing with her hands, “Clearly the Shadowhawks would fall apart. Ty would miss your sweet, sweet lovin’ and Phaeton, well; he wouldn’t be able to cope. Vik would probably be…well Vik would just be. She probably wouldn’t give a flying frak if the whole gods’ damn team went up in smoke, I think she would only notice she was alone after a while, but probably wouldn’t care either way. Cronus would miss you putting shit on his bed; although he might actually get a proper night’s sleep. Tati would be beside herself because her wingman Ty would be decommissioned on account of no lovins from you, and that new kid, what’s his name, Leon? Well he would be lost without someone’s feet to grovel at,” she rattled off in quick succession as per usual before she popped a few pieces of tomato into her mouth and smirked sideways at him. Truth be told Sam liked every last one of the Shadowhawks—even Vik who didn’t appear to get on very well with Chris but whom she respected a lot—except for maybe the new kid, she still hadn’t made her mind up about him.
She stabbed at her salad again when he continued to talk about hanging the uniform. “Never cowboy, never, we ride till we die,” she made a little flourish of her hand before digging into her salad again. She knew he was spitting in the wind but she wasn’t going to call him on his bullshit. She found it easier to keep a lighthearted mood with Chris. He was her superior after all. They had become very close friends over the past few years and she trusted him, more than she trusted anyone really. This wasn’t yet something that had dawned on her though. Nonetheless they could always talk to one another. Conversation came easily and naturally. It was never forced between Chris and Sam, it just was.
“Mmm yeah, Aerilonian men just get me all hot and bothered, you know, with those accents of theirs, and damn sexy lookin’ to,” she retorted sarcastically, then chuckled. “Eh you know, went to a Pyramid game. Aerilon Threshers won,” she pumped her fist into the air in triumph. “Went to a few museums, and a few bars,” she shrugged. “Some of the other shadowhawks and I had a grand old time.”

Chris just laughed at her comments about how everyone would react if he were to retire. "Hey someday Ty is going to have to take the squad over and let me relax." He replied to her with a jovial tone to his voice. when the subject was changed yet again Chris finally felt like it was changed from the topic before. The serious topic.
Chris finished up his meal and stat there with her as she spoke about her time on Aerilon. "Ha, I didn't realize that there was so much to do back home. Well other then the Threshers of course. They are on fire this year." Chris followed pyramid closely, with only Cronus following it more then him.
"It sounds like you had a good old time down there. Missed out on all the fun up here though. Should have seen the fight yesterday too. I could not believe it." he really couldn't believe it, he had lost over four hundred cubits in one little fight. Frak it was one hell of a pill to swallow. The only saving grace was that the marine ensign didn't only wanted his money back and not the payout. He had to much pride it seemed to take the cash from him with them not boxing properly.
Chris didn't care what it was that would have been two hundred more cubits he would have had to pay out. "Worse investment of my life that fight. speaking of we should probably check on Ty at some point he took one hades of a beating." Chris sighed at the thought of it all.

“Heh,” Sam chuckled through a closed mouth filled with salad. Ty becoming Captain. She didn’t know quite how she felt about that. He would probably make a great Captain honestly. Ty may have been jovial and playful when not in the cockpit, but out in the black Tyler was a beast, a force to be reckoned with and he took his duty as a viper pilot very seriously. He was also unmistakably talented. That kind of talent you were born with, and in a way Sam and he weren’t that much different. He had a few years on her and a lot more experience. Secretly Samantha harbored a hope to someday be as good as skilled a viper pilot as Tyler. “Yeah, I hope I’m dead the day Ty takes over and you retire,” she joked playfully.
“Yeah they are,” Sam enthused. “You should have come down to the game, it was epic,” she went on to describe the game motioning wildly with her hands. Samantha loved pyramid. Granted, no one loved or followed pyramid as closely as Cronus, but she loved the game almost as much as she loved flying. Alright, nowhere near the amount she loved flying, but pyramid was her favorite sport.
“A fight? What happened?” Samantha asked finishing up her meal now almost wishing she had seen it. A shower without anyone around was a welcomed experience however. One she couldn’t have passed up. Then at his remark about losing money she smirked, “Just like you to make bets,” she chuckled with a shake of her head. “Tyler? Who the frak beat Tyler he’s a brick wall,” she commented. “Frak yeah we should go see him. Maybe even give him a stogy for his troubles.”

Samuel came in to the mess hall after logging a few hours in the simulator and with a smile on his face. Samuel walked with a little jump in his step. they had completed there "mission" undetected and everything went according to plan so far. Of course Samuel hadn't seen the lead pilot for the white puss squad yet, but he looked forward to the expression on his face. Just like any new comer to a vessel you have to expect some hazing and to be put to the test. Samuel may not be considered a shadowhawk yet but during the war games he would hopefully prove his mettle.
After Samuel had gotten his before nap snack he noticed Striker and Nova. He walked over and took a seat at there table with a smile on his face. They where talking about something but Samuel didn't catch any of there conversation. He hoped he wasn't interrupting anything important "How are you two today?" he paused and waited for there responses."have any of you seen the leader of the albino puss'" he said in a hushed voice so only those at the table could hear. Samuel hoped someone had that way he could get there account of what happened.

Chris laughed and nodded to agree with Samantha about going and seeing Ty. "he is probably hiding himself in shame after that." Ty had a rough go, some might say worse then Chris. Those people don't know how much he lost though. He wouldn't hold it against Ty though He gave it his damnedest to put that puke of a marine down. Frak Chris could not stand that guy.
Who the hades did he think he was. Some damn gunny that though he could talk shit when he wanted to. Frak he was luck Chris didn't put his ass down for good for being such a prick. He had a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. How he ever made gunny Chris had no idea but as far as Chris could tell he must have spent a lot of time under some Colonels desk smiling like a donut. " would love to see that gunny get his. Never met a dumber piece of crap then him. Frak he must have opened wide for some higher up for that rank." He probably shouldn't have trashed talked him like that but it was how Chris was, he couldn't change that.
While his train of thought was just running down the road of shit talking the gunny he was interrupted by the sound of another. The Rook had come and joined them. "No worries Rook, have a seat." He joked with him. "Me I'm pissed off and broke. Frakkin marines." He stated to him "And no not a single peep from the little kitten." Yet another thing pissing him off.

“Yeah maybe we’ll have to give Ty some extra lovin’” she teased Chris cocking her head to one side and giving him a little wink. “You know,” she paused for effect, “get him some girl planet side to come nurse him back to health,” she laughed wondering what suggesting thoughts she had supplanted in Chris’ head for a moment there.
“Hey there kid,” she greeted the Rook as she took a sip of her water. It was a gift to have good, fresh water and not worry about rations. She chuckled at Chris’ remark, “How much did you lose?” she asked playfully nudging him in the shoulder. “It’s okay, those fluff balls couldn’t stand up to us anyways, even if they tried.”

Samuel smiled at nova's comment about the white tiger squadron. A little friendly banter was always good for moral, well at least for the best squad on the Hyperion. "How did you loose so much money?" Samuel had missed the fight all together he had been training in the simulator during the fight. "I'm sure we will hear something from them, a good prank like that its note worthy."Samuel smiled as he talked. He was proud of what he did. It may not have made him a shadowhawk immediately but it was one step closer to being part of the shadowhawk family. (((OOC sorry for the small post didn't have much to say ))))

"Frakkin marine."
"Not fond of my men?" Roger interjected. The major had approached the seated Chris from behind. He hadn't heard much aside from that comment and talk about the gambling. Naturally the trio were discussing the fight from just a few hours ago. Roger had intended to catch up with Chris at sickbay but instead had run into Tremaine and been sidetracked. Now was as good a time as any to say hello.
With him was Lieutenant Casey. The two seemed attached at the hip of late. They say opposites attract, but from what Roger gathered these two were about as alike as they come. The other man, another LT JG, Roger did not recognize, not even his face. Certainly he was a new transfer to the ship and most likely to Chris' squadron, the Shadowhawks. In years past Roger would have already looked over the new dossiers but nowadays he preferred to play catch with his sons while on leave. Sitting in a dimly lit room and pouring over service records could wait for when the tour began.
"Wilson. Casey." he said each name and gave a slight nod as he went, finally arriving on the new transfer. "Major Davis." he said, introducing himself to the man. "Marine CO."

Chris turned in his seat then stood up quickly as if he was worried about the senior officer behind him. Roger and Chris of course went way back but this was the perfect chance to mess with the new guy. Chris tapped Samantha on the shoulder to get to her raise up with him then he saluted Major Davis. "Negative sir, just mourning the loss of large sums of money due to one of your marines."
Chris smiled at Roger like he was planning something. "Rook, introduce yourself don't you know you are standing in the presence of greatness. Major, you should have heard what this new rook was saying about your marines." Chris was trying to hold back a laugh as he spoke. Roger would catch on that he was frakking with the Rook as was typical of him for any new recruit he got.
After giving Roger an the Rook a brief moment to get antiquated Chris reached his hand out and shook Rogers hand. "How's the wife and kids.. And home of course they haven't turning it in to mini-Caprica yet have they?" Roger knew Chris made very few ventures back to Aerilon side from going and being there for Roger's wedding Chris had nearly never set foot on the planet. It was his home and he would always consider it his home but going back there was a different story. He was proud of where he was from but not for what he had done while he was there.
When Roger had left on leave Chris had thought about having him drop a letter in the mail for him. It ha been written when he was only nineteen and he had been holding on to it since then trying to talk himself in to sending it. It was to his sister for whom he had not seen or talkin to since he had left Aerilon so long ago. "Now about my money Roger, I do believe your marine cheated. Not sure how yet but, how is it he beat one of my pilots, tell me that one?"

When Roger approached the blonde immediately sat up a little straighter in her chair and closed her legs like a lady. She smiled lazily up at the Major before Chris got to his feet and nearly pulled her up with him as he nudged her grabbing at her uniform by the shoulder. Samantha stood swiftly. Luckily she caught onto his little plan quickly. It was something unspoken. Chris and Sam communicated well, even through body language and gestures. Somehow it seemed natural. She saluted the Major and smiled out of respect. She liked Major Davis. He was an upstanding man, clearly Aerilon made the best of the best. Well, perhaps Chris could use a little work in protocol and etiquette but at least he was an ace pilot that had to make up for something.
“Yes sir, we like your men just fine Major,” Samantha added, then her eyes shifted sideways towards Chris without moving her head, her hand still in a salute as her mouth lifted into a half smile. The Rook couldn’t see this little exchange of course since they had their backsides to him and were facing Roger. Her hand dropped finally but only after Roger returned it. Her lips pressed together in an effort to stop herself from laughing at Chris’ remark. It was partially true. The Rook was standing in the presence of greatness. But she really wanted to hear what the Rook—or that guy Leon as she had so named him—was going to say.
She allowed both Samuel and Chris to have their various exchanges. She sat herself back down in her chair amused by the conversation. “Maybe he was on Stims,” Samantha interjected nonchalantly.
