1600 Hours, October 3rd, 2003 – Starboard Flight Pod, Viper Two-Six
(Roger correct us if the time stamp is off)
Hoffman had given the squads their briefings this morning and Pacifica had done the same with the deck crew on her pod. They were getting back in the full swing of things again. Everything would be returning to normal in the next few days. Well, as normal as things got with the war games just around the corner. Modifications to Vipers had been returned to with in regs for nearly all the vipers and raptors, except one. Hoffman had personally stripped the mod's he could from two-six, Clairabell as Pacifica had named her.
She had been removed from duty and was scheduled to go to a war museum for the colonies. It was as if Pacifica's deck had been neutered. Stripped of its glory with that one ship. The only person likely to be more worked up about it then her was Lieutenant Tremaine. She was losing her pride and joy but he had lost a part of himself. He hadn't even been given his chance to have a final tryst with her in the skies.
He had been forced to fly the new empty shell of a ship that they were replacing Clairabell with. He had just landed from his first flight in the new Viper and it was moved into position where the once glorious Two-Six would have rested. Pacifica pushed the ladder over to the Viper for him to climb down and join her. Both of them would mourn the loss together, though Pacifica had already resolved to do something about it. They would rebuilt Two-Six back with this new shell. She would never be the same but this time they would go deeper, push the limits even more and make the new ship better, even if she wouldn't ever be Clairabell.
"Welcome back Lieutenant." Pacifica said as he walked down the ladder and joined him. She instinctively went right to removing his helmet for him. It was easier for someone on the outside to do that. "I'm sorry about your loss sir. I heard after the briefing." She sighed to herself as she watched for the lieutenants reaction to it all. She knew damned well he was not happy about it.
The whole day she had been thinking about it herself trying to figure out what they could do to save her. She even talked to the Chief about sending any viper but Two-Six but it was with no success. That is when it finally hit her that they had to do something else. She had yet to go look to see what supplies were saved by Hoffman but they would get to that in time. She had already come up with things she wanted to do with the new viper.
"Sir i would like to talk to you about... well that." She said as she pointed to the new viper. "I miss Clairabell already and she isn't even off the deck yet. I can't see my pod with out her so we need to get started on this one right away. That is if you are willing Sir." She knew there was a chance that he just didn't want to go through the trouble again and if he didn't then that was fine but if he was they would be able to work together. She had learned a lot about him back on the Uden at least as far as his skill set. They never got to close or anything, just coworkers who had a similar interest.
