Triad Triad is a game very similar to Poker and the only card game specifically mentioned in BSG (NB: In the original series it was called Pyramid). The game is played with hexagonal cards that have both a color (suit) and a number of images (their face value). The game is played with bets around the table, folds, etc. Like foreign languages, the names of cards, hands, and the general rules have been developed through canon and non-canon sources.

Triad Colors/SuitsThere are four colors/suits in Triad (like the four suits in a traditional deck, except there are four full colors instead of two colors with two suits each). For all of you colorblind players out there, to also differentiate between colors/suits each color/suit has a different number of lines around the border of the card. - Black - 1 Line
- Red - 2 Lines
- Green - 3 Lines
- Blue - 4 Lines
ExampleTriad Cards/Face ValuesLike a traditional deck there are 13 different card values times four suits equals 52 cards in a deck. The cards values are: - Ace - One central orange dot.
- Two - Two vertical black dots.
- Three - Three vertical black dots.
- Four - Four vertical black dots.
- Five - One vertical black line.
- Six - One vertical black line and a black dot forming a new column beside it. E.G. l '
- Seven - One vertical black line and two black dots.
- Eight - One vertical black line and three black dots.
- Nine - One vertical black line and four black dots.
- Ten - Two vertical black lines.
- Prince - A vertical black line doted by an orange dot. E.G. i
- Queen - Two vertical black lines each doted by an orange dot.
- King - Three vertical black lines each doted by an orange dot.

Order of PlayBasic Rules: - Cards are dealt to each player one at a time in a clockwise fashion around the table.
- The role of dealer rotates around the table with each hand or set of hands. This determines the order of betting and card distribution, not necessarily who is physically dealing.
- Some players might be required to perform a blind bet/ante before seeing their cards depending on their location at the table and that relation to the dealer.
- Depending on the game variation, several rounds of betting will follow. Players may check, bet, call, raise, or fold. At the conclusion of the last betting round, if there are still two or more players that have not folded, the players will show their hands and determine a winner.
Five Card-draw Triad: - Players are dealt five cards face down.
- After a round of betting on this original hand, players may discard cards from their hand and have them replaced (the "draw").
- A second round of betting occurs before players must show their hands.
Triad Hold 'em: - Players are dealt only two personal cards, face down.
- After an initial round of betting, three community cards are dealt out.
- After another round of betting, a fourth community card is dealt.
- Following another round of bets, a final community card is dealt.
- There is one final round of betting before players show their hands (comprised of the best 5 card combination of the 5 community and 2 personal cards).
