1200 1st October 2003; Hyperion Flight deckSidney had been on the Aerilon Ship yard for four days now dealing with the press and their million questions for him about the pending war games. He was to be leading the games this year. Quiet an honor to be given. One he was quiet proud to have. Today was finally the big day, he was to be ushered on to the Hyperion to lead the games from. Admiral Moore of the Aerilon Shipyard was on the Raptor with him as they landed. He would officially release him from his time on the shipyard and send him on his way to the games. It was a simple military changing of the guards so to say. When the raptor landed Sidney stood up with the Admiral and walked to the door. WHen the ECO opened the door. "after you sir." The admiral nodded to Sidney, that had known each other for more then a few years. After the admiral walked out Sidney followed and the pair stepped down off the ship. six other officers stepped off with him including the a few lower ranking people that would tag along for the trip to the war games with Sidney. Sidney saluted the Admiral and waited for his returned salute. While both stood there holding the salute the admiral spoke. "Lieutenant Colonial Bainbridge, you are here by officially released from your post and to report to the Hyperion Commander for your next posting." The admiral let slip a small smile as he spoke then dropped his salute. from the second raptor that had landed with them a herd of media began to snap pictures of the pair. "Thank you sir, I'll report in right away." Sidney replied with all seriousness. "Take care of yourself Sidney, we'll be watching from here to see how it all goes." The admiral reached out and shook his hand as they stood there for the photo op. "We won't disappoint sir." He replied back before he turned to stand beside him waiting for the OOD of the ship to report to him and recieve the lieutenant colonel. Just a few yards off from them stood a female officer waiting for them, a Major and the OOD of the ship. "Major Hayashi post!" the Admiral said loudly for everyone in the area to hear. Once she arrived and shook their hans it would be the majority of this little dog and pony show over, that is till they got to the commander and had the cameras snapping pictures once more. Sidney hated this part of being higher up. ------ OOC: Admiral color is CC4B00 -------

The Commanding Officer and Executive Officer were on the CIC waiting the arrival of Lieutenant Colonel Bainbridge with her. Amaya had been on the ship long enough to know it but still had things to learn. She was new to this whole being OOD thing and actually looked forward to meeting the Lieutenant Colonel. He had time as an OOD and an X.O. before and rumor was he was to head out after this to command his own ship, maybe not a battlestar but still command either way. She would be able to pick his brain for details if he was willing an he was not part of her leadership so it was safe that way.
When the two Raptors landed she stood there at attention with the countless others who were there to fill their numbers on the deck for the media attention. The hatch opened and the Admiral and Bainbridge stepped out. Amaya quickly called it out. "Admiral on deck" She saluted them at a distance and waited as the salute was returned. A quick relieving of his current post to the Hyperion transpired in front of her before she was called to post in front of them.
Amaya walked up briskly but with out running and stood facing the admiral with Sidney beside him. Her arm swiftly raised to offer the proper salute. "Sir!" She stated as he returned the salute to her. "Major, the Lieutenant Colonel is under your care. Make sure the commander has a chance to meet him." The admiral stated to her as he raised and lowered his salute.
"Understood sir." Amaya was straight faced and all business. To be honest she hated being around the admirals, it was always stressful and hard for her to handle, but some how she did. She dropped her salute right after he did and waited for him to dismiss them.
"Dismissed." He stated and turned to head back in to the Raptor, the Admiral had a busy life on the ship yard and didn't have time for to much formalities. Amaya stood there a second as the cameras flashed and the admiral walked away. Once he was back in the raptor she turned to Sidney and saluted him as well. "Sir when you are ready we can make our way to the CIC or if you would prefer to take a moment and speak with anyone here. I will be your escort through the ship till you are ready to take it on your own." She had been tasked with tagging along with him and making sure he found his way around so long as he got to the commander with in the hour. He was after all the most senior member of the group running the war games this year and that meant he would get all the extra attention.

Tyler stood with the Shadowhawks formation in Dress Grays. When the salute order came, he kept his eyes ahead and delivered a stiff salute. Technically he was in the wrong place, and that was not unusual, as Tyler often traded 'Slots' with fellow Hawks for the pure enjoyment of aggravating Chris. Today however, he had and entirely different reason, not that Chris' disapproving looks as he called the Squadron to attention weren't a nice addition, but today was about the man on that Raptor.
Admiralty Liaison Lieutenant Colonel Sidney Alexander Bainbridge, formerly Leader of Reaper Squadron.
When the Raptor door cycled, even the air in the room crispened, every soldier, officer and enlisted, became firmer in their stance. Then the man himself came forward, not Sidney, but Admiral Moore. Ty saluted as he heard Major Hayashi start to give the command, as was proper, and the entire bay filled with the sound of right sleeves slamming to position like a single field of textiles. "Admiral on deck" The formation in unison, dropped their salutes as the Admiral stepped down.
The two stood to ceremony, and tons of flashes filled the bay, and colored the warship's innards in pulses of sunshard white. When the cameras had their fill, the ceremony continued in it's brevity, and Admiral Moore barked out the order, his voice pouring out military discipline and respect, as only an Admiral's could, "Major Hayashi post!"
The commander and she spoke, and rendered the proper military farewells, and as the Admiral turned for the ship, an officer Tyler honestly didn't know, he'd seen him but didn't know him, bellowed out, "Hyperion Attention! Admiral Moore Departing!" The Admiral turned and gave his final Salute, and the light flashes went to the point of hemorrhaging the brain of a epileptic.
After the Raptor began it's departure, the Colonel was Ty's only point of attention. Bainbridge was for all intents and purposes, Tyler's true father. Not that his real father wasn't a good man, or a fine dad. But Sidney was more than a fellow soldier, he was family. He was the guy you wanted to have at your back in a fight, and the man you wanted giving the orders when the inevitable fight came. And his leadership on the wargames would force them to be beyond interesting. Sidney must have had two hundred plans in his head, on how to get the Hyperion on the "Next" level. Kosta was the only other Reaper there, and as such, he was the only other one who would understand first hand, that Sidney searched high and low for that next level, and it was always a hard run to it. But always exciting as well..

The Hyperion was a buzz that morning, the admiral and the Admiralties liaison where coming aboard today. Samuel was nerves for today's ceremony, not for the usual reason but because he was going to meet a legend in his own time. Not only was Sidney the original squad leader of the Reapers, he also wrote some of the NSAWC training manuals. It was an honor to have him aboard. Samuel went out the day before and had his Gray's professionally pressed, he wasn't going to have an admiral see a wrinkle on that uniform. It was an auspicious occasion to be sure, the war games for this ship would be entertaining to say the least.
Samuel was standing with the rest of the Shadowhawks as the ceremony unfolded. Samuel saluted in perfect unison with the rest of them and was as straight as a board. Everyone looked there best.

Sidney stood at attention as the admiral made his way back on to the Raptor and was away. As soon as he was the Major was quick to brief him about the plans from here. It seemed the young woman would be escorting him through the ship. Sidney had served his fair share of time on different ships and knew how to get around most of them but the Hyperion was a different kind of beast. It was massive even in Battlestar terms. Though likely to have a similar set up to those of other battlestars it would have more then he was used to.
"Thank you Major, I'd like to take a moment to speak with a few people here on the ship." Sidney stated as he searched the room looking for a certain pilot among the crowd. There were countless people present and all for this, for his arrival and the little bit of media attention that was present at the time. Once he finally spotted the person he was looking for he addressed Amaya again. "I do have one favor though Major, is there any way to get the media off the deck, a media room we can sent them off to, a fire alarm we can trip. Anything that will get them off my back. They have been hounding me for days." He said quietly as to not let the media folks themselves hear him.
Once she had replied he began to move forward through the rank and file till he got to where he was looking for. Ty was standing out at the edge of the ranks along the aisle they were walking down. Sidney turned to face the mans side, Ty still looking forward. "Name and rank son." Sidney said to him as he looked stern as he always did. He was of course just playing with him, and Ty would know it.
Once he was given name and rank he stepped in to face him directly. "Anyone ever tell you, you look like death itself?" He of course was referring to the fact that he was one of the reapers. Sidney had always told his new squad members; 'When I'm done with you, and you're bearing down on your enemy... they're gonna think you're death himself..'
Sidney reached out a hand to the man for him to shake. It was good for Sidney to see Ty again, the two of them were close, like family. Sidney had no real family left but Ty was closer then any family Sidney had. His father had died long ago and his mother passed but a little while ago. Ty was it and it was good to serve together again. six months here on the Hyperion then it would be off to the Hephaestus where Ty would be transferred to next as his CAG. "Major go ahead a dismiss the crowds, no need for people to stand around on my account."
focusing now on Ty and anyone else who may approach at this point Sidney spoke with the man he had been waiting to see for a wile now. "How they treating you here in the Hyperion. I hear she is even bigger from the inside then the outside."

Amaya walked to Sidney left as they made their way down the rank and file. "yes of course sure, take your time the commander isn't expecting you for an hour." She replied to his comment about taking a moment to talk to the troops around. "I'll have them out of the way as fast as I can." Amaya said as they stopped at one of the pilots. It seemed he had picked this one out of the crowd for some reason though when he started talking to him it almost seemed as if he was completely random.
While Sidney exchanged words with the Amaya's attention turned to one of the Ensigns that was walking not far behind them, One of the many lower ranking officers that were there to make sure things went as planned. "make sure the media is taken in to the pilots ready room for the time being, Tell them what you have to to get them out of her." She stated quietly to the Ensign.
The ensign quickly saluted and went about it. "Yes ma'am" He replied as he walked off to the media that was following not far behind. Just as Amaya caught back up with Sidney he was giving his next order to her. "Yes sir." She replied and made her way to the front of the formed up troops.
She stood there a second before calling it. "Formation... Fall out!" She said loudly and than watched for a chance to make her way back to Sidney and those that were around him. it took her a moment to wade through the crowd but finally she got back to him. With out a word she stood there waiting for him to finish his conversation with the pilot.

Tyler stood with the detail as the Colonel walked down the rows, and waited to either be released from the formation, or for Razor to see him. Sure enough, the latter came first, and he heard the familiar voice of the deadliest viper jock in the fleet step next to him. "Name and rank son."He could only imagine what was in the Ensign beside him's head at that moment, to see a Colonel step up to the Shadowhawks first thing, and focus in on Tyler. "Tremaine, Tyler James, Lieutenant Senior Grade Sir!"Razor stepped around in front of him, as though he were fixing to tear him a new one. For a moment, the pilot next to him stood far straighter than was required by regs, like the whole row would be in for it because Bainbridge was there. Tyler and Razor went way back, folk here knew the talk, but talk was cheap. Only Kosta knew how real the old life was. "Anyone ever tell you, you look like death itself?"[/i], and the kill is awarded without dispute. In point of fact, Tyler had never seen an actual bird take more than two volleys with cannons before being scuttled, so four seemed a trifle extreme. And that was what he'd sat there thinking about, while Razor bragged to everyone in the rec room, about how they would soon be hailed as the greatest flight team that the Triton would ever have the "Privilage" to see. Ty had asked him privately during the celebration, if he wouldn't rather have someone else as his wingman. He knew Sidney had big plans for the future, and in earnest, Tyler felt unequal to the task. He didn't want to damage Sidney's future, by being inadequate. Sid had looked him right in the eyes, and grown deadly serious. If you want to be the Griffin, then you gotta let go of the Zero. You hear me Ty?I do Top. I... I just don't want ta be the reason you're not number one when the games are finished. I know I'm better than some of the others in the squadron. But come on Razor... I don' fly like you do.Then I'll show you how to do it right.(slight laugh) I hear ya Boss. I mean... You know I didn't actually kill 'Sidestep' today? The computer gave me the win. Had that been for real. He woulda skated on it. Thats the truth too. I want to... I mean. It's and honor to be your number two Top. But. I just don't think I'm who you want me ta be. I got a long way ta go...How far do you want to go?N-sock, the Atlantia CAG, heh. Hell, maybe make Major before I'm thirty. I dunno. I know that we're wastin time here. I got a lotta work ta do, a lot of studyin to catch up on before I'm ready to sit back and pound beers with tha' squad. You want the truth? How far do I want to go? I want ta be worthy of the title you gave me. I want ta be the best.(Sid had sat there a half a minute. Just thinking. He finally said,) Then leave the drink. We'll go right now. And you can put those reflexes of yours to work. Ty, I have tactics that these guys aren't ready for. Hades. They may never be ready for 'em. But you trust me, you dedicate yourself to following what I say, learn to do what I say, when I say to do it. I'll show you things triple Aces would cringe to watch. I'll show you things they're too scared to try at N-sock. I'll give you the tools to be better than the best. You already have the skill, Tyler. Now be the Gods Damn Griffin.(they stood and started walking out, on the way, Tyler had joked towards Sid) So what then? You're gonna... what? Turn me into the Reaper's sickle?Tyler.[/b] Sid had said, When I'm done with you, and you're bearing down on your enemy... they're gonna think you're death himself.[/ul] "Anyone ever tell you, you look like death itself?"Tyler smiled as he thought about it, not much of a smile, as he was still at attention, but enough of one to crease his cheek lightly. "A Saggie thought so Colonel, 'ah couple 'ah years back." Then he smiled in earnest, as Razor extended his hand and Griffin took it firmly. "It's good to see you again Boss."Bainbridge turned to Hayashi, "Major go ahead a dismiss the crowds, no need for people to stand around on my account... How they treating you here in the Hyperion. I hear she is even bigger from the inside then the outside." He finished, looking back to Ty. "You know how it is Colonel, you've see one Battlestar, you've seen 'em...." Tyler cracked a staunted laugh, "Who 'm I kiddin? This ships state of the art Sir. She's ah friggin beast..."The Major called the formations away, and Ty came to parade rest to speak with Sidney. "It was a warm welcome, and a welcome posting after my tour on the Battlestar Eunuch, still appreciate the help on that one Top... I'm saddled with the Shadowhawks now, under Captain Wilson. He's got a style you'd appreciate, and a temper you'd expect. But he's a natural leader. One day when Captain Wolfe gets promoted, he'll make a fine CAG. In the meantime, you can look for Striker's Hawks to be the sharp end of your stick."

Sidney smirked at the comment about all battlestars being the same, after so long they really were just about the same thing, some just took longer to get to the CIC then others. Then once you are there it was just a matter of how big the brass was on your collar. That was unimportant right now.
"Glad you made it over here with out any trouble. Didn't see you out in the crowd at first and I was starting to think we were going to have to cancel the games this year. You'll have to introduce me to the Shadow Hawks when the read tape is finally clear." Sidney told him as he looked to make sure his escort had returned to show him through the ship.
"Walk with me Lieutenant, The major here was kind enough to offer up an escort to get me around, but so long as your CAG doesn't need you We got some catching up to do." Sidney patted his hand on to Ty shoulder guiding him to walk with him for just a moment as the three of them began to walk down the hall.
"Thanks for dealing with the media there Major well make sure to catch up with them shortly. What the status of the Hyperions preparations for the games Major?" it was best for him to start out with the formalities. He would have plenty of that when he got to the CIC but every detail he had going in would help him expedite the process. "Any glitches along the way?"
He continued walking along as she gave her explanation of what was going on with the Hyperion. Sid's face was a stern as ever as he listened to the full run down. He was never the type to open up and show much of any emotion. Hades many of his pilots always sad he was born with out emotions like a robot or something. Ty was one of the few who actually say the 'softer side of Sidney. He didn't have much of one and even when it was that so called softer side it wasn't the fru-fru feel good crap. No for him softer meant not coming down on someone, it meant focusing on the person and pushing them to be the best through endless hours of training and practice. With that came a more open Sidney, one willing to talk, if only a little, about things not related to work.
"Thank you Major. How about you Lieutenant? The shadow Hawks are the best around here then? Give me the run down on them?" Again business always had to come first. Once it was all over and he had some free time Sidney would likely join Ty with the Shadow Hawks to get to know them.
