- Leadership (He has a way with people. He makes people WANT to follow him, and impress him.)
- Motivation (Nothing, and I mean NOTHING keeps him from what he wants)
- Wits (He is quick on his feet, and always has a backup plan)
Weaknesses:
- Drinking (Jason can hold it down fairly well, but when he hits his limit, as he often does, the results can be disasterous)
- Temper (Very quick to jump to his, and other's defense. And when he gets angry, it isn't pretty.)
- Ego (He is very VERY full of himself, and doesn't like to be criticized.)
Aspirations: Be the best frakking pilot in the fleet.
General Personality:
He is the definition of a free spirit. He loves to fly, and do whatever it takes to get off of solid ground. He is a gambler, a romantic, and a damn fine pilot. Over all, he is a wild soul, who loves life, and intends to do whatever it takes to remain alive.
In the cockpit, he is 100 percent Pilot. He is quick, aware of his surroundings, and ready for anything. He is, however, not afraid to bend the rules if it means keeping pilots alive.
On the ground, he is the model of military bearing. Hardly ever do you see him crack, unless you call him a liar, or question his legitimacy.
He is known to drink, and when he drinks he drinks too much. When he lost contact with Alaina, it was hard to keep from the bottle. Luckily he had Gold Digger, and other friends. But when he gets low, he takes comfort in alcohol.
The Backstory
History:
THE BEGINNING
1972-1990
Born a bastard in Caprica city, Jason was raised to hate his father, whoever he was. But after a time, he simply stopped caring. There was so much more for a young boy to do. He pulled pig tails, got slapped, chased girls, was chased BY girls... everything that makes a boys childhood so memorable. He got in plenty of fights, and learned how to pick himself up after getting knocked down. Even if he couldn't fight with his fists worth a damn, he wouldn't stop trying until he was incapable to continue. (Like Captain America, pre drug injections)
When he was 8 years old, his mother gave him a fantastic present, she took him to a championship pyramid match, and he saw a Viper Flyover. At that moment, he knew what he wanted to do. He began to focus, almost obsessively, on becoming a pilot.
His teachers, friends, and even his family were all supportive initially. But after a time they grew tired of it. Only his mother never lost her patience.
His mother supported him completely, and against his pleading, took on a second job to pay for the schooling he needed. As she walked home after a double shift one night, she was killed for the money in her wallet. Jason was crushed. This left him without much choice. He had a brother and sister to care for, and he abandoned his dream of flying.
But even as he resigned himself to a life of work, fortune smiled on him. His Grandfather arrived, and took custody of his younger siblings. Jason couldn't believe it. He was free to chase his dream again. So the next day, he headed off to join up.

Academy
1990-1995
The money Jason's mother had saved, plus a little help from his Grandfather was enough to put him through his first semester at one of Caprica's many colleges, but Jason had other plans. He set his sights on the top, knowing there was only one way to go about achieving his dream. Jason wanted the best, and so he began the application process for the Caprica Military Academy.
Jason had been an A Student all through high school, president of Honor society, and captain of the school's pyramid team for both his junior AND senior years. His coaches, teachers, and even the principal of his high school wrote him glowing references. Apparently it worked, because Jason was accepted at the academy for the fall term. His dream was coming true.
The Academy was unlike anything he had ever dreamed of. Every day was a new adventure. He found that they accepted him as one of them. He formed solid friendships, some of which last to this day. But as each day passed, he was one step closer to his dream of touching the sky.
Finally, Junior Year, the day came when he was given his first flight school classes. His dreams were coming true.
As it turned out, he had a knack for flying. He excelled in flight school and, inspired by the memory of his mother, he worked as hard as he could to be the best. His training officers all saw great potential, even if he was a little on the feisty side. Jason was committed to being the best, and he studied harder than anyone else in his class of pilots. He spent many extra hours reading about every facet of the business, and took on extra classes to qualify as a Raptor pilot as well. It was an exhausting time, but he managed to make it through, and graduated top of his class.

POSTINGS
1995-1996
Jason's first posting was on board the Battle Star Erasmus, where he served for the better part of a year. The first time he came out of the tube, into the black of deep space, alone, with no trainers and no one to tell him what to do, it felt like being born again. He enjoyed every second.
No sooner was he on board, however, than the Erasmus was sent to Sagittaron to help put down the insurrection spreading there. Jason's first taste of true action would be in the Sagittaron War.
The Erasmus arrived after most of the air combat had drawn to a close, which meant their wing was assigned to patrols. Long, hum drum patrols. It was maddening for a man like dumont, to be stuck in a finely tuned fighter, left to fly back and forth over some patch of nowhere or other.
However, that all changed on a bright clear morning towards the end of the conflict. Jason and his wing man were flying a low patrol, searching the rural countryside for a fabled rebel base, when suddenly the wireless exploded with heavy traffic. Raptors were under attack two clicks from their position. Instantly the two pilots altered their course and sprang into action.
As they approached the location, they saw the horrifying scene. 3 raptors, all fully loaded with marines, were being terrorized by a pair of Starhound Fighters. Even as the vipers screamed into the engagement, one of the Starhounds found its mark, and a raptor was engulfed in a fireball. Jason watched in horror, knowing there was nothing he could do.
Now was no time for choking, however, and before the rebel pilots could react, Dumont and his fellow pilot had dispatched them. It was later noted, that this action had saved the lives of 16 personnel, 8 on each of the surviving raptors. Saddly enough, this went to Jason's head. He was often quoted as having said "First real combat, and what did we do? Saved their frakking asses."

ATLANTIA
1996-1998
His second posting was to the Battlestar Atlantia, where he learned what it truly meant to be a viper pilot. They were engaged in several search and rescue ops, and he found great pride in giving back. It helped him cope with the underlying purpose of his job, killing.
It was while on the Atlantia that he truly began to prove his worth. During an engagement with Pirates above Caprica, Jason's quick thinking and deft skills with the controls of his viper saved the lives of half his squadron. The pirate's, knowing they were defeated, had launched a stolen nuke inside a shuttle. Jason was able to disable one of the transport's engines, sending it safely away from the Battlestar, to detonate safely in the black.
This, combined with his record from the Erasmus, began to turn heads. The young hot shot pilot was beginning to cause quite a stir. His non traditional style, combined with his incredible ability to think on the fly put him in line for a long prestigious carreer.
While posted on the Atlantia he met a girl. Alaina was beautiful. She was smart, and she was funny. It was the stereotypical love at first sight, and everyone could see it. Alaina was a doctor, who had a heart about as big as a whale. She was calm when Jason inevitably got frustrated, and always knew what to say when he was low.She and Jason spent as much time together as they could, but it was destined to end poorly.
Jason was transferred to Galactica, and has lost contact with her. He is terrified that she is dead, or has found another man.

Galactica
1998-Present
Jason was shifted to Galactica, after his time aboard Atlantia. It was like a whole knew world. He began flying ops with people like Kara Thrace, and even got some face time with Commander Adama once or twice. It was amazing.
Jason spent most of his time on board Galactica, as a member of the White Tiger Squadron. He was under the direct command of Lt. James L "Gold Digger" Knight. Knight was a fireball, who worked his pilots hard, and got results. He had a young squadron on a ship known for having some of the best in the fleet. Starbuck, for instance.
After serving for a few years aboard Galactica, Jason had begun to impress everyone. Even the commander had noticed him. With his promotion to Lt., came another surprise. Gold Digger made the choice to assign Jason as his personal wing man. Jason couldn't believe it. He was getting the privilege to take on some real responsibility.
Then, in 2002, came his first taste of a high priority mission. The White Tigers, in conjunction with Thrace's squadron, had been given a highly important mission. Galactica was being sent to handle pirates that were gathering on Iris.
During the mission, Thrace was forced below the clouds, separated from the group. Without even speaking, both Knight and Jason broke away to come to her aid. They broke cloud, and found her being tailed by no less than seven pirate fighters.
The two managed to destroy three fighters a piece, and give starbuck the space she needed to get out of there, but as they turned to leave, laser fire from the last crippled fighter hit Gold Digger's port engine, causing it to explode and take the port side wing with it. The last words he said to Jason, as he plummeted to the earth below, smoke and fire all around him were "Stay shiny, Kid."
With the death of Gold Digger, Jason was promoted to Squadron Leader of the White Tigers. With the upcoming decommissioning of Galactica, it has been decided that most of the viper squadrons should be sent to other ships. Subsequently, the White Tigers were ordered to transfer to the Hyperion, in preparation for the War Games and the patrol. Jason looks forward to his new posting, waiting for the next adventure to start.
