Personality
Likes: Please list at least five (5)
- Going Planet-side, more specifically to the large, interesting places, most especially those cities with a beach.
- Sex. It's not quite the emotional bonding moment people say it is. It feels good. It's fun. It's a great way to pass the day, a marathon encounter of physical intimacy....... nothing like it.
- Alcohol. Some people use it for deniability, but those are people who don't want to ask for forgiveness or permission. Tauron has the distinct advantage of desiring neither from anyone. So, she can enjoy having her reality warped like the plates on a damaged Viper.
- Witty banter, flirting. She loves conversation. Actually, her stance is, and I quote, “In the age of batteries and moveable showerheads, I like to talk to a man who can make me laugh. Keep up with me. You know what I mean, Jack?”
- Smoking. At one point it was more than the legal substances, but since she went military, it's been cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, flavored tobacco... whatever she can get her hands on.
Dislikes: Please list at least five (5)
- Authoritarian superiors. Many of her superiors have a more relaxed hand. They understand that the handbook doesn't account for free-thinking autonomy. Most of them have a degree to which they will look the other way. Some don't. Some get their rocks off being the dictator of the hangar. It's a shitty way to live.
- Possessive drunks/possessive men. There are a few who either get frakked up and treat a woman they're interested in like she belongs to them or do so soberly. At the minor end of this infraction of this, Tauron would tell a man to get bent. At moderate or severe displays, one would be finding out whether a testicle retrieval operation can truly be necessary for a brutal kick to the juevos.
- Bitchy women. They're loud. They're obnoxious. They're usually drunk or at least thinking that their nethers give them the right to any of those behaviors. Tauron can get reeeeally unladylike, reeeeeally quick, and she likes women like herself.
- Politics. Tauron is from an impoverished area on a planet already known for its economic weakness. Those suits on various forms of media all talked. And they talked. And the talked. And from the time Tauron was a girl to the death of her father, he told her that those people wore clothing that was worth more than a year of his wages, and that they didn't care, they weren't going to help. Tauron internalized that. They're suits. They have no inkling of how the common person's world is. They talk, and talk, and they don't have a clue who the people are that they're talking to... in her mind, anyway.
- Jackasses about gender. Usually this has translated to fellow mechanics, males, who think that breasts and ovaries somehow detract from the functionality of a torque wrench, and somehow a not-that-impressive, sagging, wrinkly organ magically makes engines run more smoothly. Her torque wrench may not function as well because she has mammary glands, but she can sure as frak tell them where they may insert it with a smile.
Fears: Please list at least one (1)
- Ending up stuck on a planet. Tauron's moniker is her homeworld, but that is not truly her home. She wanted to see the stars, to live among them, and the military was her only shot. She feels a lot more grounded in space than she has in her life.
- Discharge, which plays to the above reasoning
- Claustrophobia. A contained Tauron is an extremely unhappy Tauron. An extremely unhappy Tauron becomes an exponentially pissed Tauron. An exponentially pissed Tauron... let's just say the hope is that if one put her in the cage, she doesn't get back out of the box.
Strengths:
- She knows her stuff. If she doesn't know something about any particular model of Viper, she knows a guy who knows a guy, and she will find her answer either by means of her circle or her manuals. When it comes to aviation, she is serious as a heart attack. She knows the ten dollar terms for the parts. She'll use the two dollar terms. If she works with a mechanic, that mechanic is competent. If she shuns, jeers, and rejects a mechanic... it's better to just place her with a different mechanic.
- Strong. It's a hard task to break Tauron Rose... one that hasn't been done yet. She's a strong woman, a personality that takes over, and she's physically backed it up once or twice by sheer tenacity and aggression. Her stance, and I quote, is, “You might kick my ass... But you're not going to look nearly as pretty.”
- Fierce loyalty. Her surrogate family is aboard the Battlestar Hyperion. She began on the Hyperion, she remained on the Hyperion, and she made fast friends and comrades aboard. This is her home, her crew, and she is on their side every step of the way.
Weaknesses:
- Temper, temper... Tauron has been put in the brig a couple of times for coming unglued on cocky pilots or co-workers for a few things that she despises... 1) superiority complexes 2) unnecessarily adding to an already packed work schedule by way of acting like a dumbass 3) she was in a bad mood, they were in a bad mood, and the scene was set to roll.
- Recklessness. When it comes to her personal life, she has had reckless sex, drugs, partying... put herself in stupid and dangerous situations. So far, she's been lucky.
- Insecurity. It wouldn't seem it; Tauron seems like the cockiest person in the world. She perceives herself as having been from a poorer background than most of her superiors. Rather than letting that feeling go unchecked, she used it as a lash, preferring her personal observation of human nature and her “low-class” skillsets to their sophistication. This also answers the question as to why pompous political visitors sometimes find their best clothing with grease smears from a hearty and well-meaning pat on the back when they come to tour the bay and look at working slobs like herself.
Aspirations: She's doing what she wants to do. She wants to work on aircraft. She wants to be a more than competent mechanic. This is the life she wants... she aspires to maintain it. In terms of relationships, that's nice, but not her priority. Love. Family. Not really her priority. Her family can be found in the guts of a raptor in the hangar, and a select, special few in the cockpits.
General Personality: Tauron is a planet of traditional, composed, and piss-poor people. One out of three ain't bad. Tauron the woman is a hot-headed, hedonistic firecracker from that world. She is an example of why blanket generalizations don't work, a new age of rebellious and disruptive youths. She just happened to find a place to channel that energy.
PER HER SUPERIORS
The mechanic Selena Rose has moments of insubordination, and this is not her only vice. She is easily instigated. She is also a hell of a hard worker, extremely competent, and promising candidate for a future in mechanics and mechanical engineering. She has promise, passion, and ability. It's just the discipline she still has yet to fully uncover.
PER HER HANGAR
She's a hell of a friend, tells funny stories, pisses off the pilots with the sticks up their posteriors, and works... constantly. She's also a pretty frakking horrible example of the Tauron stereotype. She makes it obvious that she's trying to get away from that. There are stories ranging from her making out with a woman at a bar on a dare to rattling some tool boxes after hours with a marine, and all of those stories are safely kept because she knows a lot that she safely keeps too. There's loyalty in the hangar.
PER THE PILOTS
The woman is capable, knowledgeable, and generally easy to work with. She won't let a ship go if she doesn't think it's ready, or she'll pitch a frakking fit about it. In short, she knows that her work matters because someone's life is depending on it when they take off. If a pilot doesn't make it back, she wants it to be operator error, and that's what she'll tell them.
PER THE PILOTS “With sticks up their posterior regions”
The woman is crazy, she should be discharged. She drew phallii next to my girlfriend's face when she found a picture in my cockpit / rubbed icy-hot on the crotch of my suit / put grease on... / glued me to... / set tacks in... / called me a...
And there was not a frak given.
