Aspirations: To some extend she wants to be accepted and to be loved, but that can only be achieved once she accomplishes her greatest goal, specifically regarding identity. She wants to find out and fully understand who she is and what is her role in the greater universe.
General Personality: Although she naturally shy, Riley always makes an effort to meet people and to be around them. However, because of her awkward nature, she is often shut out from people and social events. She is extremely disorganized and often embarrasses herself. If it wasn't her uncanny ability to repair and work on machines, there's a good chance she would've been fired long ago. Being shy, she is also very observant, and appreciates the small mannerisms of everyone. She yearns to belong and to make friends. Emotionally she can be a roller-coaster, sometimes being more energetic and social or sometimes she is quiet and apathetic.
The Backstory
History: Remembers growing up as an orphan on Canceron. Due to the large and poor population, she struggled in an orphanage and was often picked on for being small by the other kids. No real memories of her parents, and all the information she had about them included their names and her mother's pendant, with sparrows and her birthstone.
Although she was adopted when she was 11, her parents had repeatedly abused her over the years, and when she finally mustered the strength to run away, she was 15 and all alone. In order to survive, she rented out a crappy apartment and got a job working at a spaceport hangar, doing mostly custodial work. After noticing one day that one of the mechanics was fixing a ship incorrectly, she stepped in and fixed the problem. Realizing she had a natural talent for something, she was immediately picked up as a mechanic/technician and worked on ships for a few years. Along with her ability, she gained a bit of knowledge and tricks of the trade as years went by. Her handiness and resourcefulness would later stand out when she enlisted to work with the military.
When she was 18, she enlisted and started her service aboard the Patrolstar Hades. For two years she worked and proved herself skillful and resourceful, which earned her the ability to bounce around and work on the Gunstar Theseus and Gunstar Hera both. The following year she transferred to the Battlestar Pegasus, but found the experience upsetting. Within half a year she requested an immediate transfer and began serving aboard the Battlestar Hyperion, a place where she has been for a year now and still adjusting to.
Anything Else?: I initially created this character with the intent of her being a Cylon. Not a sleeper-agent, one that recoginzes that she is a Cylon. However, she is more indepedent and free-thinking, and harbors no ill-will towards mankind. In the History section of this character profile, I wrote "remembers" certain things. Indicating that those memories are not real, and part of her programming into a person. Because of her harsh, oppressive memory, she is much more soft spoken and emotionally charged. Understanding who she is, she feels extremely guilty for the suffering of others, specifically that of mankind. The longer she lives among them, the more she wants to be like them, which is why she makes an effort to socialize although she often fails.
It should also be noted that along with background information such as childhood, the rest of her line (Number Sevens) are programmed to be elite fighters/assassins/infiltrators. Their very nature is violent and aggressive (borderline bloodlust) towards the human race. Despite such predispositions, Riley actively blocks out her aggressive programming and in turn, blocks out her natural abilities to fight and kill. Considering that she chooses to be a pacifist, this isn't really an issue for her, but she's made herself weak and defenseless from that sacrifice.
