Significant Other: Cash Hayward – ex boyfriend from Sagittaron was a Corporal marine on the Hephaestus (died during the mutiny against Castle).
Children: none
Other Notable Persons: Cousin- Pearl Breeland (29), Pacifica Alexander- best friend.
Personality: On a purely superficial level there is nothing kickass about her at all, she appears to be an innocent, helpless, sweet young thing. Mackenzie is a girly-girl through and through. If she can help it she doesn’t like getting dirty, that being said she doesn’t really mind a lot of blood and gross stuff. That doesn’t mean she likes it, but she isn’t as easily fazed by it as some. She is tough, independent and strong-willed. If she has a mind to get something done she will start and finish it. She is ambitious in this manner, but not overly so, she won’t step on others to get where she is going.
One of Mackenzie's most notable qualities is her frequent sarcasm and ironic sense of humor. She often cracks jokes and puns about her opponents, especially in the midst of hand-to-hand combat, and gets cutely annoyed when they don’t respond. She tends to be rather adorable when mad or angry at someone unless of course she is kicking the s--- out of you, or you are one of her pilots and you’ve done something wrong. Don’t mess with her! This little perky blonde may look sweet but she is a disciplined leader and expects the best out of her pilots. If you don’t do the right thing, you are in deep trouble. Now she will acknowledge that sometimes the right thing or the moral thing isn’t always by the book or the law, in such cases she is a tad more lenient. She rules with her heart and her head working together. She tries to be fair. She is level-headed, logical, and resourceful. She also doesn’t beat around the bush and will not baby her pilots or treat them like children (even though sometimes she has to when reprimanding them because they act like children though this is a very rare case).
Mackenzie is a master at compartmentalizing. This makes her good at her job. She trains constantly, and is a very efficient fighter. She is surprisingly strong for her small stature. She has a very strong moral compass that most often points her in the right direction. She tends to abide by rules, order and regulations, however if something is not right but it is law she will question it. Mackenzie is not one to make trouble, but will risk everything for the friends she has even though she would probably not admit this to their faces. Over the years she has become slightly more guarded about her feelings. Warm, inviting, amiable, charismatic personality and attracts others as if she had the powers of a succubus but she is slow to trust when it comes to her heart and her true, lasting friendship. She doesn’t tend to hold grudges, she has seen enough death to know that life is too short for that, but she does have quite a temper when riled and an unyielding stubbornness. For the most part Mackenzie is a plucky adventurous young woman ready to explore the universe.
Outside of her work Mackenzie is the life of the party. That being said she finds it increasingly difficult to separate her social life from her work. Generally running into trouble or getting an emergency call that the CAG is needed on deck while on a date isn’t really the example she wants to be setting, at least for her personal life. However work always comes first and she is fully committed to the betterment of the fleet and the survival of the human race. Her job is her life, and she takes it very seriously. She is always very professional, while still remaining a warm and an approachable leader. Her pilots, in general, respect her and actually like her as their CAG. There are always the few rebellious types that like to try and press her buttons but she can easily put them in their place.
Likes: Flying, eliminating toasters, doing her job well. Flowers, fresh fruit, pie, reading. A girly-girl she enjoys things such as: shopping, the color pink, lip-gloss, frosted eye-shadow, nail polish, and high heels.
Dislikes: If she can help it she dislikes getting dirty. Mackenzie is a very independent young woman but she hates being unloved or being rejected by someone. That being said she doesn’t have any sort of fear of abandonment or commitment issues, she is a fairly rational and level headed person, and she simply doesn’t like that feeling in the pit of her stomach. She is a bit of a pleaser because of it, but can also stand on her own two feet. She hates disappointment, being disappointed or disappointing others, letting her team down. The life of the party, and a people person she prefers to be surrounded by people than being alone, however on very few occasions she likes her own personal space and her quiet time. Dislikes pain, being tortured but most of all can’t stand seeing someone else in pain or being tortured that for her would be her breaking point or moment of defiance.
Fears: Her job requires her to be in the best physical shape she can possibly be in and she fears anything that might compromise her abilities as a viper pilot such as being physically disabled in some way or blinded. Prolonged death and pain aren’t really the way to go out in her opinion, she fears dying of an illness, unable to be active.
Aspirations: She wants to rise in the ranks, she wants to help in the betterment and survival of the human race. Someday she has dreams of finding a new home and finding love and settling down.
Equipment: Standard issue weapons, viper tool kit in case she needs to fix anything herself.
Anything Else?: Her, what some might call ‘southern’ accent (think Louisiana) mostly reveals itself when she’s drunk, otherwise she sounds like your everyday Caprican (not the posh kind, but what would be a California accent) however when she is ordering people around usually in a sarcastic way that seems nice but isn’t really she gets all sweet and sarcastic (although it doesn’t seem that way) her accent comes out.
Mackenzie rarely drinks, and therefore is a light weight. When and if she drinks she likes girly drinks with little umbrellas, preferably pink, strawberry daiquiris or pina coladas. Usually though she will just get those two options virgin.
She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat. Mackenzie may be small but she knows how to throw her weight around and use her entire body to her advantage. She is also very bendy and flexible from doing yoga on the regular; this also helps her in any close quarters fighting. If using weapons she prefers knives, cross-bows or guns but don’t ask her to shoot something long rang unless it’s from the seat of a viper. Oddly enough she is very skilled with her viper guns but it feels completely different shooting anything long range with a rifle to her. This is something she still wishes to learn and improve upon. Explosives worry her and make her nervous, she’d much prefer firing a nuke from her viper, and they are much less likely to blow you up as well as your opponent.
History: Mackenzie was born and raised on Leonis. Her father Wyatt Talbot had the proud bearing of his people, with dark hair and dark eyes that were hauntingly attractive, and the young man fell madly in love with Mary-Jo the blonde Sagittaron with the powerful Sagittaron accent. Wyatt was a stubborn man and very proud of his race. Education was held to a very high standard and esteem in the Talbot household. Her Mother, Mary-Jo Talbot (nee Scott), was from Sagittaron, she was raised on a farm, her family was very strict and traditional. In many cases Mary-Jo valued that in her own household, at least in regards to her children, everyone had to display politeness and manners when around company. Mackenzie inherited many of her mother’s likenesses, her thick blonde hair, and healthily tanned complexion, a thick Sagittaron accent (which mostly only exerts itself when she is drunk or angry) the only thing that appears different is Mackenzie has green eyes instead of her mother’s blue.
Her family on the Talbot side lived on Leonis, worked hard, and died there. Her father worked on the family tomato farm and her mother a manager of an art gallery. Mackenzie didn’t see her father as often as she would have liked due to him working all the time. In generations past all the Talbots worked heavily in manual labor jobs and each generation tried to make it better for the next.
When she was 12 her parents divorced. It was hard on Mackenzie but in the end she knew it was for the best because they argued constantly, and her father’s infidelity was quite difficult on her mother. Mackenzie was popular and pretty in school; she was good at certain things and not so much at others. She was naturally gifted in sports but not so much when it came to academia, especially math, history and sciences. She worked very hard to keep her grades up.
Mackenzie attended college on Sagittaron and majored in English. She wanted to reconnect with her roots and family on her mother’s side. While there she met a man named Cash Hayward and they fell in love, but it wasn’t too last. Cash cheated on her and broke her heart. Even after they broke up they still loved each other but Mackenzie couldn’t take the betrayal. After graduation it was fair to say that Mackenzie felt a bit lost she joined the military and went through flight school. There she found her true calling as a viper pilot. She was an exceptional pilot. She sored like a bird, and was so given her call sign Bluebird. When the cylon attack hit most of her family boarded civilian ships to safety, however her sister Ilene died.
She was a very good pilot that followed orders. However in regards to Castle and the mutiny Mackenzie rebelled. She didn’t like the idea of fighting or killing other human beings. There was very little left of them to begin with. Still, orders were orders and Castle had never given her a reason to doubt him. Mackenzie was on the Hyperion and not on CAP when the civilian ship was destroyed per Castle’s orders therefore she did not know what he had done and was duped into believing his lies. When she was ordered to the deck at a standoff she was one of the first there, but still felt uneasy about it. “Sir, this is wrong,” she had told her superior at the time, “We shouldn’t be doing this, they are human beings not cylons, there has to be another way. We should stand down,” her words fell on deaf ears as the flood gates opened. Mackenzie doe-eyed and scared pointed her gun at the opposing side the man who was directing his weapon at her first, the man was her ex-boyfriend Cash Hayward.
“Cash,” she remembered saying breathlessly, as he looked at her and said her name in return. Mackenzie glanced around at the violence that had begun to ensue. She couldn’t do it. This was wrong. She lowered her weapon and held up her hands, she was standing down. Someone from behind Cash shot at them and hit her in the abdomen near her hip. She doubled over reeling from the pain.
“Mackenzie!” she had heard Cash’s voice. Then she heard a loud bang and felt something warm and sticky splatter all over her. She looked up to see Cash writhing on the ground with a hole in his chest. Tears spilled over her cheeks as she crawled to him and pressed her hands against his wound trying to stop the bleeding as she repeated his name as if it might somehow save him. “Heh,” he choked out a laugh as he smiled up at her, “I love you Mac,” she was weeping now as he choked on his own blood, “always have, always will,” he gasped and with that he was gone. “I-“ she began but he was dead, “No, no, no,” she kept repeating pressing her hands harder against his chest wound, “You can’t die. I love you, I love you, you can’t,” her words failed her then as the other side pulled her off him and took her prisoner. That memory is seared into her mind. She does not take kindly to betrayal because the one man who she thought was supposed to be leading them killed thousands including the only man she ever loved.
Her family survived. Her father was on the Aerilon Star seducing women and trying to do his part there, underneath it all he really was a good guy. Only a few months after they arrived to the fleet her mother Mary-Jo died from a tumor in the brain, she died after the operation was complete of a brain aneurism. Mackenzie was distraught by this but somehow managed to be there for her siblings. During the Caprica battle her father Wyatt was on the Theseus to visit his son Clint, both perished. The only two siblings she has left are Brenda and Russell. Russell her brother is a wanna be crime lord who works for Noah as a runner. He enlisted and now works as one of the chefs on Hyperion so he has connections. Brenda is a civilian nurse on the Hyperion.
