History of the Hades
Origins Hades, god of the underworld, was always a fitting name for a ship of war. The Hades' predecessor was an Orion Class Pocket Battlestar constructed during the First Cylon War in 1954. The Hades served for ten years and saw serious action throughout the bloody conflict. In 1994, forty years after her maiden voyage, the Hades was retired from service.
Pre-War History The Eros Class reincarnation of the Hades was constructed from 1997-98 on Virgon making her just slightly older than the Hermes which was completed later in the same year. After a shakedown run along the Armistice Line, Hades saw brief action fighting pirates operating on Troy in '99. In 2000, the ship began a year long deployment as garrison for Caprica before taking another tour along the Armistice Line in 2001. Since 2002, the Hades was part of the Gemenon orbital garrison.
Prior to Joining the Fleet Hades was on duty with the Gemenon garrison on March 5th, 2004 when the Cylon attack occurred. Hades and two other Patrolstars were dispatched at sub-light speeds from Gemenon to investigate the bursts of unintelligible wireless traffic from the nearby twin planet, Caprica.
While en route Hades listened to wireless traffic reporting the downfall of the Colonies. Caprica was destroyed before they could arrive and Gemenon also fell shortly after they'd left. The ship's commander prudently refrained from ordering an instantaneous FTL jump and instead focused on finding and correcting whatever was causing Colonial ships to freeze in combat and become complete sitting ducks.
By the time the culprit, the CNP, was discovered and safely removed, it was too late. Hades and her sister ships had escaped certain death only to bear witness to the downfall of their race. The small group of warships have since patrolled close to Caprica and Gemenon while remaining just out of Cylon range.

Attention Potential Hades Characters Before you make a character for the Hades or have one of your other characters transfer to the Hades know this: the Hades is not coming back to the Fleet any time soon. Any characters sent to the Hades are committed to that ship and that plot line. Warning: Minor Plot Spoilers Below The short version of the Hades' plot is that the ship is going to go off to investigate the gas giant Zeus (bigger than Jupiter and with even more moons) looking for Colonial signals. The ship is going to run into Cylons doing the same thing. There's a big fight and Hades gets shot down and crashes on one of the moons. Hades and her crew are stranded here for several months. Zeus is notable because it's fraking huge, has tons of crap floating around it, and has upper atmospheric electrical storms. The moon they are crashing on has its own heavy dust storms. Therefore, the enormous amount of debris floating around, the interference from the planet, and the lack of visibility on the moon all combine to make it near impossible for anyone to find the Hades, human or Cylon. That means that Hyperion et al. will not know where the Hades crashed. There is a high probability it just got blown apart and lost in the debris or was simply pulled into and crushed by Zeus. Therefore there is not going to be a rescue party saving everyone. The issue with visibility and DRADIS interference saves the Hades from getting blown apart as a sitting duck by the Cylon fleet, however, they are not alone on the moon. During their last stand, the Patrolstar managed to down a Cylon basestar which likewise crashed on the surface. The Hades' time stranded will involve fighting with the survivors of the other crash. In short, don't worry about there being nothing to do. You should, however, be worried about what being on the Hades will mean for your characters. Namely, if you have tons of friends and contacts you are RPing with on Hyperion and elsewhere, those interactions are ended for a looooong time. The ship being crashed plus all the interference means that Viper and Raptor flights are not going to be common. When they do occur it's going to be gods awful to fly and there aren't going to be huge battles. This plot arc is going to be focused heavily on short to medium range ground engagements with Cylon forces, constant attempts to somehow rebuild the Hades and get off the moon, Chris turning himself into a God and ruling Chrisprica, and exploring/dealing with what you find on the moon. Don't sign up for this ship on a whim just because Chris is the fun captain that lets you drink. *The Hades plot is subject to some change.*

Proposed Theseus/Hades Storyline change Alright, seeing as how we've already deviated from the rough draft I put up, I'm giving this one another go. This will not be all pretty and typed nice like the others, just a very rough idea. Okay, Theseus (as per some cross-over with BSG Diaspora) is sent out on a long patrol of the Armistice Line just days before the CNP is distributed. Therefore, the ship never had the CNP installed on anything. Theseus is out cruising for months when the attack comes. It gets a message over the wireless about the attack and jumps back toward the colonies. It responds to a distress call from some ships, with its actually functioning weaponry actually takes out the Cylon basestar attacking them, and thus rescues the Hades (other ships with the Hades are lost). By the time this battle is over and Hades is un-CNPed enough to actually do anything, the Fall is basically complete. It's no use rallying at Caprica or whatever. Theseus, Hades, and the three surviving civie ships from whereever they are jump away to hide. Hades completely un-CNPs itself, the ships repair their battle damage, and they basically wait for months. Sound like something I can expand upon?
