Chris gave her a friendly nod to her accepting the invitation. Not what he had expected or even what he wanted really, he still looked at her as a liability when it come to the squads extra curricular activities but maybe it would be a new turning point for her. "We'll be launching the op at 2200 from the quarters, I'll be there on time this time. I'll need your ident card though for the sims, got to have an Albie " He joked about his usual tardiness with her bwfore asking the serious question for the ordeal later.
Her next comment paused him in his steps. What the Hades do you say to that. It would be easy if he hadn't already been through it. 'I hope so as well.' Easy enough if it were the truth but he knew every last bit of pain she felt. He had lived that pain for sixteen years. "Yeah, its a bitch isn't it." His comment didn't directly confess to his own suffering but it wasn't an out right denial either. Maybe she would catch it maybe she wouldn't but he couldn't bring himself to deny it, deny Lilly's existence to someone else who knew the pain as well.
When she walked out he just stood there a moment frozen by the images of his own past. 'Gads damn it Chris, what is wrong with you.' He thought to himself as he stood there. He had business to attend to here in the time. He reached in to his pocket and retrieved everyone else's cards along with a sign in roster that had everyone's names on it for earlier. The time listed would cover them from now till past midnight in training. He walked around the room and sliding the ident cards in to the machines and activating them one by one with a training sim. by official records they were all here till midnight, including Vik. He had thought about not having her covered but there was a line that he would not cross. Turning one of his own over to be suspect to his pranks, that was just low.
